Transfer talk: Thiago Silva denies Barcelona 'rumours'

In other news, former Chelsea player Florent Malouda moves to Turkish club Trabzonspor.

Paris St Germain centre-back Thiago Silva has stressed he will honour his long-term contract with the capital club, despite being heavily linked with a summer move to Barcelona.

Barcelona-based newspaper Sport last week reported that the Catalan club had agreed personal terms with the 28-year-old Brazil defender, but this was swiftly denied by the player's agent Paulo Tonietto.

Silva has now also spoken out to clarify his future plans, and vowed to see out his existing agreement at the Parc des Princes which runs until 2017.

Speaking to Brazilian newspaper Globoesporte, in quotes published on PSG's official website, he said: "Rumours? I have a four-year contract with Paris St Germain and I will respect this.

"The season will start as the last one ended. I'll wear the jersey of Paris.

"The coach [Laurent Blanc] has set me free so I can enjoy my vacation [after the Confederations Cup], but count on me for the Trophee des Champions against Bordeaux on August 3.

"He asked me if I wanted to come back sooner, and I want to resume July 30."

Maicon completes move to Roma

Maicon, the Brazilian full-back, has joined Roma from Manchester City on a permanent deal.

The 31 year old joined the Premier League side last summer from Inter Milan but struggled to win a regular place in the first team, making only 11 appearances during last season, just four of those in the league.

The move back to Serie A was confirmed on City's website this morning and the club said: "Everyone at Manchester City wishes Maicon good luck at his new club."

Maicon found competition from Pablo Zabaleta and Micah Richards for that right-back spot too strong.

Manuel Pellegrini, the new City manager, said at the weekend that Maicon was not part of his plans and the Brazilian did not take part in the pre-season tour of South Africa.

"Maicon didn't come here to the pre-season and he will not be in the squad at Manchester City this year," Pellegrini said.

Malouda Turkey-bound

Florent Malouda, the Former Chelsea midfielder, has joined Turkish side Trabzonspor, the club have confirmed.

The Super Lig outfit announced the deal on their official website, with the Frenchman signing a two-year deal.

Malouda was released by Chelsea at the end of last season, having spent six years at Stamford Bridge.
