Transfer talk: Aquilani has 50% chance of joining Fiorentina

Reports suggested a deal had fallen through as the 27 year old wanted a permanent move as opposed to another loan spell like the one he had with Juventus last season.

Alberto Aquilani has a 50 per cent chance of joining Fiorentina, according to his agent.

Reports suggested a deal had fallen through as the 27 year old wanted a permanent move as opposed to another loan spell like the one he had with Juventus last season.

"We want to find a solution so that next year the current situation will not reoccur again," Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia told Sportitalia. Meanwhile, Kenny Dalglish has told Copa America winner Luis Suarez to have the next two weeks off, returning to the club just before the start of the season.

Blackburn Rovers

Nikola Kalinic's chances of playing for Blackburn again "look impossible", according to his agent Tomislav Erceg.

The Croatia international striker is looking to leave Ewood Park and the Ukrainian side Dnipro have reportedly offered 6 million (Dh36m) - the price he cost Rovers from Hajduk Split two years ago - for the 23 year old.

However, Rovers appear to be holding out for more. Kalinic is currently at home in Croatia and not in the with Rovers, who are playing in the Barclays Asia Trophy. "We have our fingers crossed something will happen in the next couple of days but we just don't know," Erceg is reported as saying in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa expect to complete the signing of the winger Charles N'Zogbia when they return from competing in the Barclays Asia Trophy final against Chelsea in Hong Kong.

N'Zogbia is due to undergo a medical today after Villa and Wigan Athletic reached agreement over a 9.5m deal. Villa do not anticipate any problems with the 25 year old poised to sign a five-year contract next week.

Alex McLeish, the manager, said: "We're arranging a medical for Charles and, pending that, he should be a Villa player next week." The Villa striker Darren Bent believes that N'Zogbia will be a "fantastic signing".

Wigan Athletic

Roberto Martinez, the Wigan manager, believes Victor Moses can fill the void left by the impending departure of Charles N'Zogbia. Moses was signed from Crystal Palace for 2.5m midway through the 2009/10 season, and the 20-year-old midfielder scored twice in Wednesday night's 2-0 victory over Dubai's Al Ahli in Austria.

"Charlie has left a big hole in our team but that vacancy is a big opportunity for Victor and maybe a couple of other players to step up," Martinez told the Wigan Evening Post.

Nicklas Bendtner is set for a fresh start away from Arsenal as the Denmark striker closes in on a 9m move to Sporting Clube de Portugal.

Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal manager, last week revealed the 23 year old had been given permission to miss the club's trip to Germany "to sort out his future".

Bendtner, pushed further down the pecking order following the 11m arrival of the Ivory Coast forward Gervinho, was photographed in Portugal and is expected to push through the formalities of his move over the weekend.

Queens Park Rangers

Bradley Orr maintains QPR's players are ready to "die for each other" as they bid to stay in the Premier League.

Defender Orr is in no doubt the squad's bond can take them a long way: "Team spirit was massive last year - we have got men in this dressing that would die for each other," Orr told the club's official website. The west London club have not been in the top flight since 1996.
