Totti will break his scoreless streak soon, says Ranieri

Claudio Ranieri, the Roma coach, has backed Francesco Totti to end his goalscoring drought when they host Basle tonight in a Champions League Group E clash.

Totti has not found the net in 10 competitive games for Roma this season.

The Roma captain came close to scoring on several occasions in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Genoa, and had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside before setting up Marco Borriello for Roma’s opener.

“Against Genoa, Totti was out of this world,” said Ranieri. “He is training really well and he is in great form. I’m sure sooner or later he will score.” Saturday’s win lifted Roma out of the relegation zone.
