Edward Sadomba, the Zimbabwean striker tasked with firing Kalba out of the relegation zone when he was signed last week, was sent off on his debut as his side went down 2-1 at home to Baniyas. Andre Senghor, the Senegalese striker, fired Baniyas ahead and was then fouled for a penalty that Nick Carle converted. Kalba pulled one back but stay second bottom.

Al Wahda Al Noubi 22', Al Kamali 69'
Red card: Khalid Al Marzouqi (Al Wahda)

Al Shabab came out on top of a feisty, five-goal, mid-table battle to move five points clear of Al Wahda in sixth place in the league. Luis Henrique hit the winner with 12 minutes to go, after Wahda had been reduced to 10 men when Khalid Al Marzouqi received a second yellow card, one of six handed out by the referee Ammar Al Junaibi.
