Sinisa Mihajlovic's first game will be against Roma.

Mihajlovic sets sights on struggling Roma

BOLONGA // The newly-appointed Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic is confident he can steer the club to safety. The Serbian tactician, 39, spoke for the first time yesterday after being handed the reins 24 hours earlier after the sacking of Daniele Arrigoni. Bologna, who were promoted from Serie B last season, face Roma - who are surprisingly only one point above them in the table - at home on Saturday and go into the game with just two victories to their name from 10 games.

"This is a great opportunity. I am confident we will avoid the drop but we must start to get points, beginning with our game against Roma," said Mihajlovic. The former Lazio player served as an assistant coach to Roberto Mancini at Inter Milan in the last three Scudetto-winning campaigns but left the club when Mancini was sacked at the end of last season. He already has clear ideas about adjustments he will be making at Bologna. The Rossoblu have the worst defence in the competition alongside Reggina with 19 goals conceded so far this campaign.

"I have in mind my line-up, but before I unveil it I would like to talk to my players," he added. * PA Sport
