Manchester United extend Premier League lead with 2-0 win over Everton


While Old Trafford’s most glamorous guest was on a scouting trip, Jose Mourinho could have been forgiven for feeling he was not visiting another country or another club. This, it seemed, was time travel. Mourinho was back in the past.

The Real Madrid manager’s preparation for Wednesday’s Champions League tie took him to the place where little has changed in the five-and-a-half years since Mourinho left English shores. Manchester United remain on course for another title and the ageing but ageless pair of Sir Alex Fergusonand Ryan Giggs are embellishing their already illustrious CVs.
