Man City go top after seven goal thriller with Wolves

Carlos Tevez scores twice as Manchester City climb to the top of the Premier League following their battling 4-3 win against Wolves.

Manchester City move to the top of the Premier League table after a seven-goal thriller with Wolves.

Carlos Tevez scored twice to take his tally for the season to 14 as the Argentine striker linked well with Cityís £27 million (Dh157.3m) debutant Edin Dzeko who provided the assist for Yaya Toure's goal.

Toureís brother Kolo was also on the scoresheet with the hostís equaliser in the first half. The Ivorian brothers become the first siblings to score in the same Premier League match.

Wolves will feel aggrieved at the lack of reward for their own efforts, clawing themselves back into the contest through a Kevin Doyle penalty and Ronald Zubar after Nenad Milijas had originally put them in front.

Elsewhere, Chelsea find the winning formula in the Premier League with a no-frills 2-0 win against Blackburn.

Branislav Ivanovic opened the scoring from five yards after Rovers failed to clear a corner. Ivanovic provided Nicolas Anelka with the second after flicking on from a Florent Malouda corner.

West Brom ease their relegation worries with a 3-2 victory against Blackpool at the Hawthorns.

Blackpool went ahead with a rifling shot from David Vaughan. Peter Odemwingie levelled for West Brom before half-time. James Morrison put the Baggies ahead before Gary Taylor-Fletcher equalised for the visitors. Odemwingie pounced on a defensive error from Craig Cathcart to volley in the winner in injury time.

Stoke move into the top half of the table following a comfortable 2-0 win against Bolton.

Danny Higginbotham forced the opener over the line following a goal-mouth scramble from a corner in the first half. Matthew Etherington doubled the lead midway through the second from the spot after he was brought down by the Bolton defender Zat Knight.

Andrew Johnsonís 87th minute deflected shot past Ali Al Habsi in the Wigan goal earned Fulham a 1-1 draw at the DW Stadium. Hugo Rodallega had put the Lancashire club 1-0 up latching on to a huge route-one punt from Al Habsi.
