The Newcastle old boy Charles N'Zogbia returned to haunt Sunderland with the winner at the Stadium of Light. The Frenchman ran from his own half just before the break to beat keeper Marton Fulop with Kenwyne Jones down injured at the other end, much to the annoyance of the home fans. Four minutes earlier Grant Leadbitter had cancelled out Ben Watson's 12th-minute opener for Wigan.
