Galicia's Nacho Novo celebrates after scoring against Iran during their international friendly at the Riazor Stadium in Coruna, northwestern Spain, on Dec 27, 2008. Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna today confirmed their interest in signing the Rangers striker during the January transfer window.

Depor confirm Novo liking

Deportivo La Coruna could table an offer for Nacho Novo in the January transfer window after confirming their interest in the Rangers striker. The Primera Liga club were linked with the 29-year-old after watching him score twice as a Galician select side claimed a 3-2 win over Iran on Saturday night. The Spanish forward took part in the international just hours after making a substitute appearance in the Old Firm derby defeat to Celtic at Ibrox. Deportivo will now weigh up whether to make a move for Novo — who has also been linked with the English Premier League outfit Hull City — when the transfer window opens. "Nacho Novo is a player who is attractive to Deportivo because of his Galician background and also because of his contractual situation in Glasgow," the club president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro told the Daily Record "We know he is out of contract at the end of this season so we would not be talking about a big fee. "But nothing is decided yet. These are the kind of things we have to discuss internally as we make our plans for January. "But there will be official talks in the next few days and Nacho Novo is a name that will come up."
