Delph joins Aston Villa

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Leeds midfielder Fabian Delph for an undisclosed fee. Villa boss Martin O'Neill has been chasing the 19-year-old for several weeks and the two sides finally agreed a fee for the player. Leeds rejected rival bids for Delph's services having agreed terms with the midlands club and the teenager has now successfully negotiated personal terms. Delph has been linked to a host of top-flight clubs in the last year, with Manchester City also keen on adding him to their list of summer recruits. Leeds, though, yesterday thanked Villa for the professional nature of their pursuit and subsequently turned down other offers for a player rated at around £8million (Dh49.7m)

Delph made his England Under-21 debut last year and was rewarded for fine season with a new four-year contract at Elland Road in September. * PA Sport
