Arteta double helps Everton see off Sunderland

The Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta scored two cracking first-half goals to spoil Ricky Sbragia's first match after his official appointment as Sunderland manager. Arteta fired home a 25-yard free-kick after 10 minutes. Another free-kick from Arteta, deflected back to him off the wall, allowing him to fire in his second nine minutes from the break, albeit with the help of a deflection off Teemu Tainio. And the young substitute Danny Gosling, 18, side-footed home a Joleon Lescott pass seven minutes from the end.
