Luiz Henrique struck twice as Al Shabab finished the first half of their Pro League campaign with a flourish yesterday as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Al Shaab at the Khaled bin Mohammed Stadium.

The Brazilian opened the scoring in the 26th minute, before compatriot Edgar Bruno extended the lead for Marcos Paqueta's men five minutes after the restart.

Henrique then completed the scoring with 17 minutes remaining to leave Paqueta upbeat on Shabab's potential for the second half of the season following their tough start to the campaign.

They picked up only five points in their first eight games and Paqueta said: "In football sometimes you need some luck to win games and we didn't have that at the beginning of the season. I am glad we finished the first half of the league very strongly and obviously we want to build on the good results when the competition resumes after the break."
