Adams gets first victory

SUNDERLAND // An early goal from Djibril Cisse was not enough for Sunderland as Portsmouth hit back to earn Tony Adams his first win since taking over as boss. The Black Cats had got off to a flying start as Cisse ran on to Andy Reid's pass in the fourth minute to slot the ball home. Portsmouth got back on level terms six minutes after the restart as Nadir Belhadj's scored with a long range effort.

Jermain Defoe then won the game for Portsmouth in stoppage time as he scored from the penalty spot after Glenn Johnson had been felled by El Hadji Diouf. * PA Sport
