European Powerboat Championship win for Dubai's Team Victory

Dubai's Team Victory clinched the UIM Class 1 European Powerboat Championship on Lake Como yesterday.

Victory, raced by Arif Saif Al Zafeen and Nadir bin Hendi, took the title with their second start-to-finish victory of the weekend at the Italian Grand Prix, continuing their charge towards the World Championship title, which will be decided in Dubai in December.

Team Abu Dhabi's Ahmed Al Hameli and Majed Al Mansoori were forced to retire from Race Two. They held second for several laps early on but hit mechanical trouble, lost ground and eventually pulled out on lap 10.

The Italian crew of Guido Cappellini and Giampaolo Montavoci claimed second position in Poliform and Qatar's Ali Al Neama and Matteo Nicolini rounded off the podium in Spirit of Qatar 95 and claimed the runner-up spot in the European Championship.
