Next IPL to be held from April 4 to May 27


NEW DELHI // India's cricket board says it will organise the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) from April 4 to May 27 next year.

Chirayu Amin, the IPL chairman, announced the dates of the 54-day tournament in a statement today and promised to provide the full schedule soon.

The tournament, which is played between 10 franchises boasting many of the top players from around the world, will feature 74 matches in all.

Chennai Super Kings, led by the India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, will be the two-time defending champions in the fifth edition of the IPL, whose past winners also include Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers.
