Dravid warns India against complacency

Batsman Rahul Dravid is wary of complacency just days after India topped the ICC Test world rankings for the first time following their 2-0 series win over Sri Lanka. The victory in the final match of the three-Test series that finished last weekend in Mumbai, sparked euphoric celebrations across the country, but Dravid said there is more work to be done.

"It is a great feeling to be ranked the No 1 Test team in the world and we are all proud of it, but this doesn't mean the end of the journey," Dravid told the Deccan Herald. "What is satisfying is the kind of cricket we have played in the last 18-24 months. "This has been a long process, a journey that from my perspective began when I made my Test debut in 1996. "As an individual, when you go out to play, you want to be the best you can be, day in and day out. It's no different for the team.

"I have faced some tough times early in my career and there were a lot of disappointments from a team perspective. "To be a part of the team that is ranked No 1 in the world is very satisfying." India will play seven limited-overs games against Sri Lanka this month, with the first of the two Twenty20 internationals today in Nagpur. "We have to try and put the Test series behind us," said Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara.

"We have a lot of hard work to do all around to keep improving and we have a good opportunity in these two Twenty20 games. "The motivation is always there, but we need to start from scratch," he said. * With agencies
