Head to the New York Institute of Abu Dhabi’s downtown campus to watch two Egyptian films, Heliopolis and the short Spring 89, both notable inclusions in previous editions of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. The event is the final instalment in a three-part series highlighting the contributions of Pakistani, Turkish and Egyptian filmmakers. Ahmad Abdalla’s first feature, Heliopolis (pictured) – the name of the neighbourhood in Cairo where the film is set – tells the story of five people wrestling with a conundrum, whose lives intertwine.
Saturday, July 20, 7.30pm, free admission, New York Institute of Abu Dhabi, 02 628 4000, www.adff.ae, www.nyuad.nyu.edu
