Runaway bride steals more than groom's heart

JAIPUR //A runaway bride in Rajasthan stole more than the groom's heart over the weekend, leaving with 375,000 rupees (Dh25,000) of his money, police said yesterday.

The groom and more than 50 friends and family members were stranded in a remote village after his bride-to-be left town just before the ceremony began.

The bride and two men who arranged the marriage have been charged in the case. One of the men has been arrested, police said.

Police said the three were part of a gang in Rajasthan that had set up fake marriages before. – IANS
