JERUSALEM // A Palestinian health official said two Gaza men were killed in an Israeli military attack.
The Israeli military spokesman's office said today that aircraft struck central Gaza overnight in response to rocket fire on southern Israel. It said direct hits were identified.
The Palestinian health official, Adham Abu Salmia, said the men could not be immediately identified, so it was not clear whether they were civilians or militants. It appeared that he and the military spokesman's office were referring to the same strike.
Violence along the Israel-Gaza border has flared in recent days, with four Palestinian militants killed yesterday in airstrikes launched in retaliation for rocket fire.
Over the past 24 hours militants fired six rockets, the military said.
