Swine flu found in Qatar

Qatar today announced two cases of the H1N1 flu virus in two foreign children who arrived from the United States and Austria, the first cases in the country. The two boys showed flu symptoms on arrival, were given treatment and were recovering, the health minister Abdullah al Qahtani said in comments on the state-run Qatar News Agency. The first case was a two-year-old boy from New Zealand who arrived on Saturday with his family from Austria and the second was a two-and-a-half-year-old American boy who came from New York on Sunday via Bangladesh, the minister said.

The UAE's first swine flu patient was discharged from hospital after fully recovering from his symptoms at the end of May. Flu cases have also been detected in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Bahrain. * Reuters
