DAMASCUS // A suicide bomber blew himself up in a mosque in Damascus yesterday, killing a leading Sunni-Muslim imam who was a longtime supporter of the president, Bashar Al Assad. State media said Sheikh Mohammad Said Ramadan Al Buti died in the explosion at the Eman Mosque in the central Mazraa district. Thought to be in his 90s, he was the Imam of Damascus's historic Ummayyad Mosque. At least 15 people were killed in the attack, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
