Bahrain jails 13 over anti-government protests

MANAMA // Thirteen people, including a Kuwaiti-born Canadian, were sentenced to jail for links to anti-government protests and unrest. A civilian court sentenced the Canadian Nasser Al Ras to five years in prison on charges stemming from the demonstrations for greater rights.

Lesser jail terms were handed to the son and son-in-law of prominent rights activist Abdulhadi Al Khawaja, a dual Bahraini-Danish citizen who has been sentenced to life in prison.
