WASHINGTON // Federal prosecutors claim a Chicago man accused of plotting a terrorist attack on a Danish newspaper also helped reconnoitre targets in the Indian city of Mumbai before they were attacked. Tahawwur Hussain Rana and David Coleman Headley were charged in October with plotting an attack on the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten in revenge for a dozen cartoons printed in 2005 depicting the Prophet Mohammed.
Authorities have made new charges saying Mr Headley conspired to bomb public places in India. They also say he is cooperating with investigators of both the Danish and Indian plots since his arrest. Officials also say a retired major in the Pakistani military, Abdur Rehman Hashim Syed, took part in the plot to attack the Danish newspaper. * AP
