Bashir agrees to Friday summit with South Sudan

KHARTOUM // Sudan's president, Omar Al Bashir, has agreed to attend a summit tomorrow with his South Sudanese counterpart to push stalled economic and security deals.

The meeting, which the Sudan News Agency said was to be held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, would be the first since Mr Al Bashir and South Sudan's president, Salva Kiir, signed the deals in late September. The deals were hailed as a way to end the conflict between the two countries, but have not been put into effect.

The two countries fought along their border in March and April.
