No it's not Tom Cruise. Dubai tests a temporary zipline to carry people from Legacy Plaza to the ground. Razan Alzayani / The National

Zipping through the skies in Dubai style

Tom Cruise has already proven that as far as the Burj Khalifa is concerned no mission is impossible.

And yesterday it was the turn of the world's tallest tower in Dubai to witness more eye-catching scenes as bystanders watched as brave people flew through the air to the ground below.

The daring-doers were in fact testing a temporary zipline to carry harnessed people from a 20m scaffolding tower in Legacy Plaza, over the lake down and to Emaar Park.

Bad news for thrillseekers though, the zipline, which had the crowds staring from the plaza below, was due to be taken down today.
