Zakat Fund reports 6 per cent increase in revenues
The Zakat Fund raised Dh75.8m in revenues in the first eight months of this year, an improvement of 6 per cent from the same span of 2011, when it raised Dh71m.
The fund is an independent federal authority that centralises the collection and distribution of donations for social development.
Wam, the state news agency, reported that the secretary general of the fund, Abdullah bin Akeeda Al Muhairi, attributed the increase to strong support from Sheikh Khalifa, the President, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai.
