Turkish team Ali Ozturk and Mercedes AMG perform during the Al Ain Aerobatic Show in Al Ain Airport.

World's best pilots head to Al Ain airshow

AL AIN // Crowds of 130,000 people are expected to descend on the Al Ain Aerobatic Show for what organisers say will be an even more adrenalin-charged programme than previous years.

Considered among the top five air shows in the world, the event takes to the skies from February 2 to 5 at Al Ain International Airport.

Among the highlights will be the Federation Aéronautique International Desert Challenge, which will pit six world class pilots against one another.

One of the world's leading military air display teams, the Turkish Stars, will also perform in Al Ain for the first time.

The squadron features F-5 jets piloted by the Turkish air force's 134th acroteam squadron command, the only national team to fly in formations of eight supersonic aircraft.

"This year's show will present the very best of every aerobatic discipline and provide spectators with an exhilarating, action-packed programme," said Faisal al Sheikh, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority's events manager.

"This great value event offers a full experience into the world of aerobatics combined with a family fun day out for everyone from the UAE and beyond."

Daily tickets are Dh40 per adult and Dh20 for children between three and 10 years old, while children under three enter free. For more information visit www.alainaerobaticshow.com.
