Two workers were injured in a fire yesterday at a scrapyard belonging to a metal smelting company in Sharjah industrial area 10.
According to Brigadier Abdullah Al Suwaidi, the director of Sharjah civil defence, the fire started at about 10am.
It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control.
The injured men, both Bangladeshi, were employed by the smelting company. They suffered moderate burns after trying to put out the fire themselves, Brig Al Suwaidi said.
Both men were given first aid and taken to Al Qassimi hospital.
