Wife made to listen on telephone as her businessman husband was tortured
Two men have been jailed for kidnapping a compatriot and torturing him while his wife was forced to listen on the telephone.
The Ajman Court of First Instance heard that MRM and SAM, both Asian, kidnapped the businessman in Ajman and kept him locked in a flat.
They called his wife in her home country and made her listen while they tortured him, threatening to kill him if she didn't pay a ransom of Dh25,000.
The wife deposited the money in her country and her husband was released. Each was sentenced to 18 months in prison followed by deportation.
