People breaking the UAE's entry and foreign residency laws are being urged not to miss the visa amnesty deadline.
Maj Gen Nasser Al Awadi Al Menhali, assistant under secretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalisation, Residency and Ports Affairs, warned illegal residents that the two-month amnesty, which was launched on December 4, would expire at the start of next month.
During an inspection of the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners' Affairs in Fujairah and the passports office in Khorfakkan, Maj Gen Al Menhali urged illegal residents to report to the various centres that have been established throughout the country to receive their departure documents.
He confirmed that illegal residents were exempt from any fees or fines as part of the amnesty and that the ministry would help with all the paperwork required to process applications of those wishing to leave the Emirates.
