Warehouses razed by Sharjah blaze

Two warehouses in Sharjah's industrial area 2 were destroyed by fire yesterday.

The blaze started at about 1pm in a warehouse owned by a petrochemical company before spreading to a warehouse used by a furniture firm, according to Brig Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, the director of Sharjah Civil Defence.

There were no injuries reported and it took firefighters more than an hour to bring the blaze under control. A number of roads in the area were closed to give fire crew easier access to the scene.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
