Victim's family opts for blood money, pardons Sharjah killer

A man who choked another man with a rope and threw his body on to a motorway after burning it was pardoned by the victim's relatives yesterday.

The Federal Supreme Court dropped the death sentence after the victim's family decided they would receive blood money instead.

The man had been found guilty of attempted murder, hiding the body, drinking alcohol as a Muslim and infiltrating the country.

The Sharjah criminal court sentenced him to death.

The verdict was appealed against, and the Sharjah Appeals Court upheld it.

He will pay Dh300,000 to the family.
