Underage driver dies in Sharjah accident

SHARJAH // Police warned underage motorists not to take to the roads after a boy died when the car he was driving overturned. The driver, identified by police as MRA, a 17-year-old Emirati, was speeding when he lost control of the Honda Civic and hit a pavement on a bridge on Emirates Road in the early hours. Two passengers, EEA, 18, and EEJ, 16, were seriously injured and were taken to Al Qassimi hospital.

At 17, MRA was a year away from being allowed to drive. Police in Sharjah were also investigating the death of an Indian in a workplace accident in Sharjah Industrial Area. Sher Imbaram, 56, died on Monday when a piece of concrete that was being lifted fell on him. Officers said that Imbaram's body had been taken to the police forensic laboratory. ykakande@thenational.ae
