DUBAI // A small group of stargazers gathered in a desert camp this week to watch a lunar eclipse.
Hasan al Hariri, head of the Dubai Astronomy Group, said the eclipse on Wednesday night was relatively minor.
"A normal person wouldn't have been able to distinguish it," he said. "When you looked at the moon, you wouldn't have seen any difference."
Nevertheless, around 25 people gathered at the group's camp in Zubair to watch the moon take on a shade of red. "It was a very light tint, around five per cent," said Mr al Hariri.
However, the group is expecting hundreds to descend on the camp on December 13 to watch an impressive meteor shower. "It's going to be one of the best all year," said Mr Hariri.
