UAE rulers raise award for football team's Gulf Cup win to Dh174m


The ruler of Umm al-Quwain, Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu'alla, awarded Dh10 million to the members of the UAE national football team yesterday for winning the Gulf Cup last Friday in Bahrain.

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed, the Supreme Council member and the Ruler of Fujairah awarded Dh10 million to the members of the UAE national football team.

"We are proud of what the national team has achieved both in the performance and the outcome in all matches they played with other sisterly Arab teams," he said.

"The true spirit of one team binding in the characteristics of harmony, understanding and love among the players, who earned esteem for UAE in this championship."

Separately, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, ruler of Ajman awarded Dh7m to members of the team. Sheikh Humaid greeted the members of the team and urged them to make more efforts and to maintain the same high morale and sportsmanship.

He said the well-deserved achievement made by the UAE national football team serves as a great incentive for Emiratis to make more efforts for further achievements.

Sheikh Humaid also received the head of Malaysia's Royal Court yesterday, Tango Suliman Shah Bin Abdul Rahim Sultan Salahuddin, and members of the delegation of the International Islamic University in Malaysia, led by Professor Siti Nur Amirah Binti Kamar Ruddin.
