UAE president orders planting of 41,000 date palms

The president of the UAE has ordered 41,000 date palms to be planted throughout schools and mosques in the UAE.

President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan donated 41,000 palm date seedlings to the Ministry of Education, General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, and Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) today as the UAE celebrates its 41st National Day.

The move aims to consolidate the Union values of UAE nationals.

It is also an expression of the unity of the emirates as it backs the initiative launched by the Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

In November, Sheikh Mohammed launched the campaign for the planting of union trees in a bid to promote patriotism and give citizens a chance to express the spirit of belonging, love and loyalty to their homeland.
