Singapore's consul-general in Dubai says the island nation and the UAE should work together in developing health care.
Cheong Ming Foong said the two countries' systems were constantly developing and faced similar challenges.
"Therefore, collaborating with each other on various health-related aspects will further help develop the healthcare sectors of the two countries," he said.
Essa Al Maidoor, the director-general of the Dubai Health Authority, met Mr Cheong at the authority's headquarters.
Mr Al Maidoor said: "The way forward is to have smart hospitals that have integrated electronic record systems in place. Moving towards a paperless environment will enhance efficiencies, further improve patient care and provide detailed key performance indicators."
