Two hurt after fire breaks out at Sharjah construction site

Two workers were injured yesterday during a fire at a construction site in Al Taawun.

Brig Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi, the director general of Sharjah Civil Defence, said the Mauritanians received "moderate" burns and were taken to Kuwait Hospital.

He said two small vans were gutted in the blaze, which started at about 3am.

Another fire yesterday damaged two warehouses storing oil and lubricants at Sajja Industrial Area.

Firefighters from most of the emirate's Civil Defence centres took two hours to bring the blaze under control, according to Brig Al Suwaidi.
