Two Emiratis injured in Philippines plane crash

ABU DHABI // Two Emiratis were injured when their Cessna aircraft crash-landed in the northern Philippines during a training session yesterday.

The plane crashed in a rice field in Baranggay Penabatan, in the Pulilan town of Bulacan province, about 40 kilometres north of Manila, at 7.50am UAE time. The pilots were being treated in hospital in Bulacan.

Police could not release their names or reveal the extent of their injuries until their relatives had been informed about the accident.

"The investigation is ongoing and we may have a progress report tomorrow [today]," said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr, a spokesman for the Philippine National Police.

"The Civil Aviation Authority is later expected to take over the investigation and release the final results."

The inquiry would determine whether pilot error, mechanical failure or other factors contributed to the crash, the officer said.

The aircraft is owned by AMA Air.
