Twelve-hour days for Abu Dhabi's slaughterhouses during Eid

Public slaughterhouses in Abu Dhabi, Bani Yas and Shahama will open from 6am to 6pm to handle demand during Eid Al Fitr.

Abattoirs in the emirate have already butchered more than 40,000 cattle in the run-up to the holiday.

Municipal officials have cautioned the public against slaughtering animals in homes or residential areas.

There will be no change in fees for slaughtering animals, which remains at Dh15 for a goat or sheep, Dh40 for a calf or young camel and Dh60 for an older cow or camel.

Sheep or goat are cut into four pieces and camels and cows into six and eight pieces.
