Twelve Emirati volunteers travel to US to help with renovations after tornado

Twelve Emirati volunteers have travelled to the US to renovate homes destroyed by a tornado in the Tuscaloosa, Alabama area.

The tornado damaged homes and killed dozens of people in April last year.

The trip was organised through volunteer programmes run by the Emirates Foundation for Youth Development and co-sponsored by the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC.

Two of the embassy's diplomats were University of Alabama graduates at the time of the tornado.

The Emiratis will work with other volunteers for the US organisation Habitat for Humanity.
