DUBAI // Persistence, patience and the tireless pursuit of dreams moulded the region's top Indian entrepreneurs, according to a television series telling their stories.
Top Guns will launch tomorrow on the Indian network Zee TV. It will detail the success of a dozen business leaders who have made the UAE their home.
The half-hour weekly programme will also look at their family lives.
The show's producer, Uma Ghosh Deshpande, said she made the show because there was a lack of information on Indian business heroes.
"We don't have any literature on locally successful Indians, we don't know their stories," Ms Deshpande said.
"It's so important to get their stories out to inspire others.
"The top guns have their own message, and that is if you are focused you can achieve anything anywhere in the world."
The curtain raiser on Saturday will feature clips from Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Mohamed Alabbar, the chairman of Emaar; and interviews with MK Lokesh, the Indian ambassador to the UAE, and Sanjay Verma, the consul general of India in Dubai.
The show tells how Indian entrepreneurs helped to grow the economy and build stronger ties with the UAE.
Among the featured businessmen are Micky Jagtiani and Renuka Jagtiani, the chairman and vice chairman of the Landmark Group; BR Shetty, the founder of the NMC Group; Sanjeev Mehta, the chairman of Unilever; Yogesh Mehta, the managing director of Petrochem ME; and K Rajaram, the chief executive of Al Nabooda Automobiles.
Audiences will hear advice from several entrepreneurs, said Anesh Jagtiani, the show's presenter.
"These are people everyone has heard about but knows little about," Mr Jagtiani said.
"One person said the secret to happiness was to never compare yourself to someone who has more, but always compare yourself to someone who has less.
"Another said that people should spend one hour in the morning quietly thinking about what needs to be done. He said instead of rushing around, we should take out some time to think and this would improve our quality of life."
Top Guns will run at 7.30pm on Saturday on Zee TV, with reruns on Fridays at 7pm.
