Salik toll charge will be added to Dubai taxi meters from next month
Taxis users in Dubai will begin paying to pass through Salik toll gates from next month, the Roads and Transport Authority confirmed yesterday.
Passengers will be given the option of using alternate routes before the taxi driver passes through the toll gate.
If they choose the faster routes, such as Sheikh Zayed Road or Maktoum Bridge, the Dh4 Salik charge will be automatically credited to the taxi's meter.
The move, which will be implemented in phases, aims to ease traffic congestion and encourage more commuters to use the Metro, the RTA said.
