Project Abu Dhabi: Sheikh Zayed Tunnel

The 4.2km Salam Street tunnel, renamed the Sheikh Zayed Tunnel, was completed on December 4.

It was opened to the public the next day.

The tunnel stretches from Delma Street, at the Sea Palace junction, up to the Corniche and Mina Road.

A 2.4km section of Salam Street is underground, with 1.8km above ground.

The entire 14km Salam Street redevelopment project runs from Sheikh Zayed bridge and Mina Road to the Corniche and cost Dh4.8bn.

Vehicles can travel from Sheikh Zayed Bridge to Mina Port and the Corniche without encountering traffic signals.
