Metro stalls for several hours

DUBAI // Service on the Dubai Metro was interrupted for several hours last night due to signalling issues, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said. Service stopped between the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall and Ibn Battuta stations after a train stopped at Nakheel Harbour Tower, the RTA said. A bus service was arranged for passengers before the resumption of normal service last night. The problems came a day after seven additional Metro stations opened to the public.

Peyman Younes Parham, director of the RTA's corporate marketing and communications department, blamed technical issues with signalling, but did not specify when the problem started. According to the RTA, service was initially stopped from Burj Khalifa station towards Ibn Battuta station. It then sent an update saying service from Mall of the Emirates was disrupted. Passengers who were trying to take the Metro from Emirates Towers said trains were also not operational there. @Email:wissa@thenational.ae
