Emirati couple die in RAK car crash

An Emirati couple have been killed in a collision with a lorry on Digdaga Road in Ras al Khaimah. The accident yesterday morning was caused by incorrect overtaking, said Lt Col Hassan Rashid al Bereky, deputy chief of the RAK traffic and licensing department. Mr al Bereky said the couple, an 58-year-old male and 39-year-old female, were driving in the correct lane when a car driven by a 20-year-old Emirati wanted to overtake the vehicle. The Emirati hit the couples' vehicle from behind, making their vehicle swerve into oncoming traffic and crash into a lorry. The couple died immediately. Lt Col Hassan said the Digdaga police station has registered 574 accidents so far this year. He added: "Terrible and fatal accidents are what you get when do not follow the guidance. Human and material loss are the price we pay because of careless driving." * The National
