Three-car accident on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai

One person was injured in a fiery three-car crash on Sheikh Zayed Road last night, Dubai Police said.

The accident happened at about 11 pm on Sheikh Zayed Road inbound near the D65 exit, said Lt Imran Abdullah of the Dubai Traffic Police.

Though one of the cars caught fire and burned, only one person was injured, and the injury was not serious, Lt Abdullah said.

"It happened because of high speeds," he said.

Traffic backed up past Mall of the Emirates as drivers looked at the wreckage.

Shortly after the accident, Dubai Police tweeted that “an accident has been reported on SZR opposite MOE towards Dubai, several cars are involved. Please drive carefully. 11.32pm."
