Tenancy contract not required to obtain Abu Dhabi visa, says directorate

ABU DHABI // In a reversal of a decision announced last week, tenancy contracts will not be required to obtain a residence visa in Abu Dhabi.

Maj Gen Nasser Al Menhali, assistant undersecretary for the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, confirmed today that the additional documents would no longer be required. He said the explanation for the decision, which was made mandatory from June 1, would be detailed at a later date.

Residents who were in the process of renewing their visas were pleased to hear the news, relieving them of the burden of finding and attesting additional documents.
