US rapper Missy Elliott will miss her first Beats on the Beach concert as her flight was delayed.

Superstorm Sandy delays Missy Elliott's Beats on the Beach concert

ABU DHABI // The American rapper Missy Elliott's performance at tonight's Beats on the Beach has been cancelled after her flight from New York was delayed by the aftermath of superstorm Sandy.

She will still perform at SkyBar Abu Dhabi late this evening but will not be on stage for the free Beats on the Beach concert on the Corniche.

She will be replaced by Akon. The new Beats on the Beach lineup will see Mansour Zayed, an Emirati singer, go on at 9pm. Former Spice Girl Mel C is scheduled to go on at 10pm, and Akon at 11.20pm. Headliner Tamer Hosny, the Egyptian pop star, will take the stage at 12.20am.

Fans keen to see Missy Elliott for free will still get their chance, though: she will headline tomorrow night's show, following CeeLo Green, Maya Diab, and Hani El Omary, who will kick off the show at 10pm.
