Speeding crash kills underaged driver in Al Ain

ABU DHABI // An underaged driver died after colliding with a water tanker while speeding in Al Ain on Sunday.

Seventeen-year-old Emirati, QN, was seriously injured when he rammed his parents' four-wheel-drive into a truck on the Hazza Bin Sultan street in Al Ain.

The vehicle blew up and the victim died at Tawam Hospital due to injuries.

Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Balushi, Director of the Roads Department of Foreign Affairs at the Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, warned parents against allowing underaged children to get behind the wheel and to be vigilant about their whereabouts.

He advised young people to follow traffic regulations and avoid reckless driving that could put their lives in danger.

He said educational institutions must spread the message of safe driving and that parents must monitor the behaviour of young adults to prevent such accidents.
